With the input of many leaders and ministers, we've compiled 7 questions that cover the fundamental core doctrine every follower of Christ should believe and live out. We also have the added vetting of community to help report anyone of concern, recommend friends, or refer new members. Community weigh-in is likely the most sustainable form of accountability, although church leadership verification is something we are working to incorporate as well. (The more community, the better!)
Other than that, just like in real life, the only way to know if someone reflects the heart and life of Christ is to get to know them for yourself. That's why we hope to educate our users on using discernment and safe practices in dating, whether online or offline.
Here are the questions we will be asking users before they can create a profile or use the app:
- 1. Do you believe the scriptures in the Bible are true and accurate, and that God calls us to believe his words over our own thoughts, feelings, or traditions? (2 Tim 3:16-17, Psalm 33:4, James 1:21, Matthew 15:3)
- 2. Do you believe that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life-that we can only know and be right with God through him? (John 14:6, 2 Peter 1:3-4)
- 3. Do you believe that Jesus taught belief and repentance (a changed heart)-along with baptism-as part of receiving the gift of salvation/the Holy Spirit? (John 8:31-32, Mark 16:16)
- 4. Do you believe that sharing the good news and helping others come to Christ is part of what it means to follow Christ? (1 Pet 3:15-16, Romans 10:14-15, 1 Cor 3:7-9)
- 5. Do you believe in a church culture of freely sharing our shortcomings, and supporting one another through prayer, love, and grace? (James 5:16)
- 6. Do you believe that love is an action, and that we're called to fulfill Christ's love in a family of believers by serving one another? (1 John 4:10-18, 1 John 3:10, 1 Cor 13:1-13, Phil 2:3-5)
- 7. Do you believe in waiting until marriage to engage in sexual relations or activity leading to sex? (Gal 5:19-21, Col 3:5)
